One thing we hear time and again from customers switching to Better Proposals is that PandaDoc simply became too complicated for what they actually needed. Many businesses find themselves spending more time managing the software than creating proposals.
If you’re looking for a platform that gets out of your way and lets you focus on creating beautiful proposals that win more business, you're in the right place. So, welcome! It’s great to have you on board!
PandaDoc is essentially a document signing service for corporations. Their document editor doesn’t really allow you to create visually appealing designs. What’s more, the lack of a table of contents makes it hard to navigate longer documents for both you and your prospects. In some ways, while it’s web based, it’s not too different from the formatting and “making it all fit on one page” problems when creating a Word Doc.
Your proposals are built as responsive web pages rather than fixed-size documents, so you don't have to worry about page breaks, margins, or trying to make everything fit perfectly onto an A4 page. You simply add your content and your proposal adapts beautifully to any screen size. This eliminates 90% of the formatting frustrations you’d face with PandaDoc.

Longer proposals are also much easier to navigate. Every proposal includes a built-in table of contents, allowing your clients to jump straight to the sections that matter most. Those same sections also power your document analytics, allowing you to see exactly which sections your clients have viewed and how long they've spent reading each one.
Within each Section, you'll add different blocks to build your content. There are blocks for text, images, videos, pricing tables, signatures, and much more. Adding new content is as simple as clicking the + button between blocks and choosing the one you need.
There are two ways to get your templates copied from PandaDoc into Better Proposals. The first option is by copying and pasting your content into Better Proposals. The second is using our Document Importer.
If you’re giving it a go yourself, here’s some guidance. You’ve been through setting everything up in PandaDoc, so you’ll already have a half decent structure and the migration should be fairly simple.
In essence, you count up your sections in PandaDoc and add them into Better Proposals down the left like this:
Once you’ve done that, count out a few natural breaks for each section, add the correct number of blocks, and copy and paste the content. A 15-page proposal with 8 sections shouldn’t take much longer than 10 minutes to copy in.
If you'd rather skip the manual work, our Document Importer can do most of the heavy lifting for you.
Simply export your PandaDoc document as a .docx file and our importer will guide you through splitting your template into sections and blocks. While you may want to make a few finishing touches afterwards, it's by far the quickest way to migrate larger or more complex templates.
PandaDoc allows you to export certain data views, such as your form responses, as a CSV file. This means you can export everything up to a certain date, save it internally, and know that anything that happens after that date will be in Better Proposals.
PandaDoc also lets you export all your documents as PDF files so you can export all the relevant proposals as PDFs and have them on file. Once you’ve done that and started sending new proposals from Better Proposals, you are free to cancel your PandaDoc account.
